Biochemistry Technologist

Responsibilities
• Perform analytical tests, assess, interpret and report results related to clinical chemistry testing
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and records of testing
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
• Practice and perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures accurately
• Recognize failure, troubleshoot, take remedial action, and document action, within their scope of practice
• Assess results against diagnosis to ensure relevant results correspond with known patient data, as appropriate
• Follow inventory control system and communicate status to ensure availability of adequate reagents and supplies
• Perform quality control and document control results
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment and record calibration / maintenance activities and results as per laboratory technical procedures and/or work instructions
Eequired Skills
• Degree in related discipline from an accredited educational institution
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
• Minimum of 3 years related laboratory experience preferably in an assay laboratory
• Solid technical skills and theoretical knowledge in chemistry
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills, customer service orientation and ability to relate well to others.
• Strong mathematical and statistical skills
• Ability to be self-directed and adaptable to new technologies and processes
• Strong organization and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and prioritize
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work activities, to completion, while meeting or exceeding deadlines
• Ability to work effectively inside a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Ability to effectively navigate dynamic requirements and priorities
• Strong organization skills, dependability, pro-active, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with attention to detail
